Pediatric Oncology

The NYU Cancer Institute provides research-driven, family-centered, highly personalized care for children with cancer and blood diseases. The NYUCI's professional and compassionate team of professionals-including pediatric oncologists, surgeons, nurse practitioners, nurses, fellows, and psychosocial support staff-meets regularly to discuss your child's condition, consider his or her lifestyle and needs, and formulate the best, balanced approach for treatment.

Children receive treatment at the Hassenfeld Center, a dedicated outpatient day hospital offering the latest medical treatments as well as extensive psychosocial and emotional support, education, healing, and wellness services for patients-from birth to young adulthood. Services are available for children with all forms of cancer and blood diseases, including childhood leukemia, brain and spinal cord tumors, neuroblastoma, Hodgkin's disease, Wilms' tumor, and Ewing's sarcoma, as well as vascular and lymphatic anomalies.

Research serves as an important part of our commitment to improving survival outcomes for children with cancer. Our researchers examine every aspect of childhood cancers, from high-risk brain tumors to childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and host a spectrum of clinical trials to offer patients the most innovative, effective cancer treatments currently available. Through studies like these, we make clinically relevant "bench-to-bedside" discoveries, developing targeted therapies to improve patient outcome.

The NYU Cancer Institute is a member of numerous pediatric oncology research organizations, including the Children's Oncology Group, the Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia Phase 1 Consortium, and the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium. Our membership in these organizations gives patients access to the latest treatment options for leukemias, lymphomas, brain tumors, sarcomas, and other cancers.

Whether you are seeking a second opinion or are ready to initiate your child's treatment, we encourage you to see one of our specialists to learn about available diagnostic and treatment options and make an informed decision about your child's care.
