Tisch Hospital
An acute-care general hospital of 726 beds, contains important treatment and diagnostic units and is a focus for a wide spectrum of regional patient care programs. Treatment and investigative units include the Institute of Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery; the Skin and Cancer Unit of the Department of Dermatology, housed in the Charles C. Harris Skin and Cancer Pavilion; the Samuel Leidesdorf Medical Research Pavilion; and the Margaret S. Millhauser Laboratories for research in psychiatry and behavioral sciences. The Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine is the world's first facility devoted entirely to rehabilitation medicine. Founded in 1948 by Dr. Howard A. Rusk, the Rusk Institute is the largest university-affiliated center for the treatment of adults and children with disabilities, as well as for research and training in rehabilitation medicine.
