Shared Core Facilities
Analytical Chemistry
Metals analysis and instrumentation services laboratories serving cancer researchers who are analyzing for presence of toxic metals (e.g., arsenic, chromium, cadmium, lead, and nickel).
Biostatistics
Objective: statistical collaboration and consultation to the members of NYU Cancer Institute in all areas of basic science, clinical and translational research studies.
Core Clinical Laboratory
Facilitation, implementation, support and results for approved clinical projects: specialized assays, blood and tissue specimen handling, intradepartmental research coordination.
Experimental Animal and Exposure Core Facility
Animal Care and Exposure and Inhalation Exposure Units support cancer-related animal research in carcinogenesis models and carcinogen administration.
Experimental Pathology
Services for the microscopic analysis of tissues for clinical human and experimental animal model studies: Histopathology Unit (Histopathology and Immunochemistry cores) and the Tumor Acquisition and Banking Service.
Flow Cytometry & Cell Sorting
Flow cytometry technology, training, and services; Dako MoFlo cell sorter, Becton Dickinson FacsCalibur, and Becton Dickinson FACScan.
Genomics Facility
The Genomics Facility serves over 50 NYU SoM laboratories. The Facility members are committed to share knowledge and expertise across the broader research community at NYU.
Mouse Imaging
High-resolution (≤100 μm) images in live mice through UBM and micro-MRI.
Proteomics Facility
MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, Q-TOF mass spectrometry (MS/MS peptide sequencing), proteolysis and identification of proteins from SDS-PAGE gels, electrospray mass spectrometry (Q-TOF and LCT-Orbitrap), identification of protein phosphorylation sites.
RNAi Facility
Integrated RNA interference (RNAi) based high-throughput screening facility providing access to siRNA/dsRNA libraries and automated screening equipment, as well as logistical, technical, and bioinformatic support to screeners.
Transgenic Mouse Facility
Resource for researchers who want to generate transgenic mice by zygote injection and mutant mice by gene targeting in ES cells to study various aspects of gene function in vivo.
Vaccine and Cell Therapy
Experimental immunotherapies for patients with cancer or chronic viral infections: manufacture of DC vaccines, preparation of 2 vaccines composed of antigens in stable emulsion with Montanide ISA-51 adjuvant, storage and handling of cancer immunotherapies that contain live infectious organisms.
